Tonk Rules

Tonk is a card game that you can play with between 2 and 4 players with a standard 52 deck of cards

Tonk is played for points or for fun but can be played for money with a stake agreed on before the game starts.

The bid may be any amount, but are typically small because Tonk is fast and furious. Players may drop at any time and this option is used quite often.

ALL Players are dealt (5) five cards. The objective of Tonk is to get the lowest numbered amount in your hand. You do this by getting rid of all your cards by forming new spreads and/or adding cards to existing spreads until either you get rid of all your cards or you feel that you have the lowest hand and you drop.

If you feel you are lowest point total when your turn comes you may “drop”, which is laying your hand down, cards facing up.

(Note: Catch rules can apply.)

If a player is dealt cards that give them a total point value of 50 or 49 at the start of the game, they must declare this immediately. This is known as a Tonk, and it wins the hand immediately if options are selected in stakes screen. The pot will be collected in accordance to the stakes agreed upon before game. If multiple player have 49 or 50 the game is considered a draw or the person with the best Tonk wins . The pot is split between the winners.

CATCH RULES

If you drop and do not have the lowest points value this is known as being caught. If any player “DROPS”, another player can obtain a “catch” by being equal or lower in the counted number of the cards. IF A CATCH OCCURS, the player that gets caught has to pay the player with the lowest amount at that table DOUBLE the table pot. (If pot is 20 then he has to pay that player 40, if the pot is 100 then that player has to pay 200)

(Note: You can only “Join a Table” if your account balance is at least double the bid amount at that table. The reason for this is because if you get caught, you must be able to have enough in your account to pay the catcher double the pot.)

Ending The Game

·         A player who has no more cards after spreading, hitting or discarding to the discard pile wins.

·         If a player drops, the player with the fewest points wins.

·         When the draw pile runs out, the player with the fewest points wins. In the case of a tie, the pot is split between the players who tied.
